Routen House is a large holiday cottage which offers luxury self catering accomodation in the lake district for up to twelve people. Originally a Victorian Country Farmhouse, it stands proudly by Ennerdale Water, one of the most spectacular and secluded lakes in the Lake District, Cumbria.
The holiday cottage itself has four acres of it’s own land with pastures stretching down towards the lake. In the garden there is a feeling of peace with panoramic views of the high fells and the lake. The separate paddock has a bubbling stream that commences its journey in the mountains and finally into the lake.
Built more than 150 years ago, Routen House has been extensively refurbished and redecorated over the past few years. Spacious and sleeping 12 (plus cot) it is ideal for large family gatherings or for parties of walkers and friends.
There are two sitting rooms, both of which have recently been refurnished with new settees. The main lounge has an LCD television, DVD player and Sky TV. The second lounge has patio doors which maximise on the superb uninterrupted views of the fells and countryside. The patio itself is the ideal place for barbecues or just to unwind with a drink after a hard day enjoying yourselves.
The garden outside is an ideal place for children to play in. Gated from the road the first part of the outside space offers plenty of private parking. From here the garden continues around the side of the house to a wonderfully sheltered patio area, with table an chairs, and then onto a large lawned area at the front of the house.
Pets are welcome.
There is a separate fenced paddock to the left of the house with a crystal clear stream running down one side on it’s way to the lake. The large field to the front of the house is also part of the property and occasionally occupied by grazing cows or sheep but it’s an ideal route to start your walk to the lake.
