The Old Clare Hotel The Old Clare Hotel, 1 Kensington St, Chippendale NSW 2008, Australia

Stretching across two iconic heritage-listed buildings – The Clare Hotel pub and the Carlton & United Breweries Administration Building – the 62 room boutique hotel has been constructed with obsessive attention to aesthetics and concern for retaining the interesting features of both buildings.

ROOMS

CONNELL ROOM

Named after the previous Castle Connell Hotel on Regent Street, this room will fulfill all your earthly needs during your stay.  It is the perfect roost for a weekend or a week, for staying in or as a crash pad. Plus it’s easy on the wallet.

There are thirty Connell Rooms and yet each one is unique. Among the features are high ceilings, vintage designer furniture and a modern bathroom with dual vanities.

ABERCROMBIE ROOM

These six rooms are named after the now-closed Abercrombie Hotel, a preferred drinking hole for brewery workers, which later attracted a mix of university students and indie rockers at debauched DJ nights.

The Abercrombie Room is slightly larger than our impeccable standard and features a freestanding bath, vintage designer furniture, a super king sized bed and modern open bathroom.

CLARE ROOM

There are nine Clare Rooms, offering an average size of 44 square metres and each with very different features: be it the marble lobby and corniced ceiling in the former C.U.B administration building lobby, the exposed structural elements in our corner rooms, the original curved glass windows or one of the stylish new rooms on the upper floors; all of them lend themselves perfectly for gazing out pensively and plotting your next big cocktail lunch.

In honour of our legendary pub predecessor, the Clare Rooms show how much fun can be had in a room.

CHIPPENDALE LOFT

William Chippendale lent his name to these loft-style rooms and, maybe more importantly, the suburb they can be found in: Chippendale. A history full of highs and lows, profitable industries, pumping out beer, shoes, sugar and lollies, alongside small workers cottages and narrow streets.

The Chippendale Lofts are contemporary and spacious, with a private bedroom and sitting area over two levels. Furnished with a mix of vintage designer and custom furniture, a super king sized bed and white marble bathrooms.

SHOWROOM SUITE

There are two Showroom Suites at The Old Clare Hotel – each with an original bar, salvaged and restored from the former brewery building.

The suites feature vintage designer furniture and lamps, a super king sized bed and modern oversized bathroom.

MARY O’ SUITE

The hotel’s second largest suite is named after the legendary Chippendale character, Mary O’Shea who was also known as Pig Mary.

Offering a separate entertaining and dining area for up to eight guests, a wet bar and sleeping quarters overlooking Kensington Street, the Mary O’ Suite offers ample space for a comfortable stay but can also be used for meetings and small private dining events.

C.U.B. SUITE

The C.U.B. Suite is located in the former Carlton & United Breweries’ boardroom and still features its original timber panelling, parquetry floors, cornices and even the restored executive men's washroom.

Across more than 100 square meters the C.U.B. Suite offers spacious separate sleeping quarters, ample meeting, living and dining space with an eight-seater table and an anteroom with library.
