Gurkha Kitchen Restaurant Gurkha Kitchen Restaurant, 111-113 Station Rd E, Oxted RH8 0AX, UK

Restaurant decorated with Indian artefacts, for Nepalese curries and dishes cooked in a clay oven.

THE AWARD-WINNING GURKHA KITCHEN RESTAURANT IN OXTED PRESENTS AN AMAZING GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCE, WHICH IS PREPARED WITH INFINITE CARE AND ATTENTION.

Nepalese food is unique, and at the Gurkha Kitchen we are passionate about retaining its authenticity. Our philosophy is simple - every dish is freshly prepared using only the very best quality meat, fish and vegetables. Our approach to blending herbs and spices is more complex! It’s an art we have spent years perfecting.

Some of our spices are imported directly from Nepal - It’s the only way to create the unique flavours that you will not get anywhere else. Delicious food, elegant yet informal surroundings, and great value for money - A combination that creates an unforgettable experience for you to enjoy with friends.

The Gurkhas are world famous soldiers, highly prized in the British Army and known for their bravery and courage. They come from the mountainous country of Nepal, which nestles in the Himalayas, bordering Tibet in the north and India on its southern foothills. The preparation of food revolves around the use of fresh herbs and spices, many of which are unique to Nepali cooking, and are prepared in the “khal” (stone mortar), rather than the powders used in other Asian cuisines. The heart of a Nepali meal is “dhal bhat “ (rice and lentils) and “achar” (chutney) surrounded by other main dishes thus achieving the ultimate meal. Gurkha Kitchen presents a gastronomic experience, which is prepared with great care and attention and has no room for short cut methods.
