From the team behind Darlinghurst hot spot Lo-Fi comes The Workers Bar & Kitchen on Darling Street. The fit-out is a mash-up of eclectic styles including portraits of Bob Hawke and Gough Whitlam, green feature walls, fluoro Louis XV lounges and a quirky garden balcony. The site used to be a trades and labour hall in the 1890's, and the name of the bar is a respectful nod to the history of the venue. Come in for a Sunday Funday featuring $10 burgers, ping pong, giant Jenga and more. Bar bites, burgers and cocktails in a cool, offbeat space with exposed rafters and vintage chairs. Entering The Workers is something akin to approaching a secret Masonic Temple. You pass under a nondescript doorway flanked by wrought iron lamps and travel up a narrow timber staircase that opens out into a large hall. Dark timber beams run overhead and exposed brick walls are plastered with graffitied political slogans and artfully crumbling concrete.
