Lorna and Bob Hicks welcome you to West Hele farm holiday cottage - Orchard Barn. West Hele is a working beef farm set in beautiful North Devon rolling countryside. Orchard Barn is a disabled-friendly, self-catering holiday cottages in the picturesque and tranquil setting of our farm, hidden away 1½ miles from Buckland Brewer. The illustrations above show our farmhouse and garden on the left, and Orchard Barn and its garden on the right.

Orchard Barn (4-star) is a former barn with associated old orchard, and sleeps 6. It is a newly converted barn in the old orchard, retaining several original features. A gently ramped access from the parking area leads to the French doors and the patio from where you can enjoy the afternoon and evening sunshine.

Orchard Barn has been designed as good quality holiday accommodation. The facilities are suitable for all ages and many different group sizes, such as couples, extended families, friends.

We have avoided creating a clinical atmosphere whilst at the same time arranging the facilities so that disabled persons can have a comfortable holiday.

The accommodation is spacious and uncluttered, yet well equipped.

• A large, attractive, wheelchair friendly garden which are landscaped with accessible level patio and lawns.
• A gentle ramp or 3 steps from the car parking.
• There are no steps on the ground floor.
• An alarm call system to the downstairs bedrooms and bathroom.
• The smoke alarms have flashing lights in the downstairs bedrooms.
• The kitchen has slightly lowered worktop.
• The downstairs wet-room is fitted with grab rails and has level entry showers.
• The Sitting Room has at least 2 types of easy chairs, including 1 firm higher chair.

If you require other equipment not listed, please contact us and we will help to arrange hire, eg. extra wheelchair, hoist.

Visually impaired: The accommodation has no specific facilities for visually impaired or blind people. However, please contact us to discuss your requirements, as we may be able to help. We are quite happy for visitors to bring dogs with them - we welcome dogs.
