Chin Chin's at Koto Moon sounds more like an entrant in Shanghai's independent film festival than a purveyor of contemporary Asian cuisine, but what awaits you is well-presented food in a sumptuous setting. Friendly staff fronts this union of modern styling and traditional fare including the likes of homemade dim sums, tamarind prawns and roast duck with pine nuts. The décor of this Carlton North favorite has been inspired by traditional Asian culture with artistic flourishes from calligraphy wall-paintings, to wooden screens and ornaments, yet the overarching feel is thoroughly contemporary. Russet coloured booth-style seating and wicker chairs line timber tables, and unique light fittings douse the space in a burnished glow. The private dining room is a sumptuous space with vivid red walls and vintage furnishings.
